Japan’s export curbs merely relieve stress on Abe gov’t: Japanese economist

일본 학자 “일본의 규제강화는 국익 없는 스트레스 해소” 비판

An economist in Japan has criticized the Abe government’s decision to take South Korea off Japan’s list of preferred trading partners,… calling it just a way for the administration to relieve some stress and boost its ratings.
In a column Sunday in the Mainichi Shimbun,… Senior Economist at the Japan Research Institute Kosuke Motani said Tokyo’s export curbs on Seoul do nothing to serve Japan’s national interest… and in fact pose a risk to Japanese companies… as South Korean firms work to develop their own technology.
Motani also said that the decrease in Korean tourists in Japan could badly hurt the Japanese tourism industry.
